Toyota Blade Master G - Golf R32 challenger

In response to claims that the Japanese motoring giant Toyota are creating unexciting cars following the axing of the Supra, Celica and the more recent MR2, Toyota have launched a “Committee to create interesting cars”. Hot on the heels of this committee being announced comes this, the Toyota Blade Master G.

Toyota market the ‘Blade’ as an up market version of the Corolla, or the ‘Auris’ as it is known as in all parts of the world except Australia and New Zealand.

In the ‘Master G’ version of the Blade, happy new owners will find the same 3.5 Litre V6 that powers the Lexus RX 350 nestled between the strut towers and mated to an intelligent 6 speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The Master G also benefits from an up-rated version of the wishbone based rear-suspension that we don’t see in Australian Corollas. Power is a comfortable 206KW with 344Nm of torque.

The Blade goes on sale today in Japan for a cool 3,234,000 million yen ($32,000 AUD), and although we don’t often see the seriously kooky Japanese performance cars, it is reported that the Master G will be sold in Europe and possibly North America. A visit to our shores may not be out of the question but I wouldn’t hold my breath…

I currently have a 2005 Sportivo Corolla, like everyone else with one, there Very Happy with the 1.8 VViTL Yamaha Motor, Toyota, it’s time for another “Hot Rod” You say you’ve got the Hottest Corolla now, go on an MAKE IT HAPPEN. Where ready to update now……

I currently own a 2.4litre toyota blade & I don’t have a bad word to say about it.9.8litres/100kms doesn’t get better than that! Im sure the 3.5 Litre V6 will only improve matters. Cruising around town its undoubtedly the quietest car ive ever driven. If your looking for more excitement then use the 7spd Sequential box for some real fun. With handling to match its a breaze to drive…

We have them over here in NZ, 3.5L and 2.4L versions. If you really wanted one in Australia shouldn’t be too hard bring one accross from here.

Let me get this straight. Toyota’s idea of an “interesting car”….is a front engined, front wheel drive car with an even bigger mass pushing the nose, and an automatic gearbox?

Nose heavy. Torque steering. Slushbox. Virtually indistinguishable from a retiree’s runabout Corolla, at first glance.

If this is as “interesting” as Toyota can make their cars then the next time they “respond to criticism” management should remember the saying, “Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than open it and remove all doubt”.

dis cars nice never saw it here in the states they dont really bring import cars ova looks kool. toyota needs to bring back the supra….
