We haven’t reported on the rumoured “Blue Devil” hi-po Corvette yet, simply because there hasn’t been a whole lot to report, just rumour and speculation – not that we make a habit of letting that get in the way of a good story… The speculation continues with a CorvetteForum.com member posting a pic of a new Vette at the Laguna Seca Raceway overnight.

The yellow vette is widely believed to be the rumoured “Blue Devil” which according to those in the know will officially be dubbed the Corvette ZR1. GM took the yellow ZR1 along to the Laguna Seca Raceway in California for the final race of the American LeMans Series season, backed it out of the trailer and drove a couple of laps before packing it back up and leaving.

What can we expect of the new ZR1? The big news is that it will feature a super-charged version of GM’s new LS3 6.2-litre V8 with an output estimated at a massive 447-520kW (600-700hp). Think 0-100km/h times in the 3 second bracket and in the States at least a US100k price tag.

“This thing has so much power…We’re really into a speed and power realm that General Motors has never been in before. We’re way up there with Porsche Carrera GTs and Ferraris”, said GM Vice President Bob Lutz.

Sounds good to us Bob!
